Rich Hanson: I was born in Duluth, MN in 1951. I married Nancy Brown (of Duluth) in 1975, and we've one son, Dylan, who was born in 1981. We've lived in Monmouth, IL since late 1987. That's the vital statistics out of the way. Politically I'm cynical with anarchist leanings. I love the Emma Goldman quote: "If your vote could change anything, they wouldn't let you have it." I love history, and believe that we could avoid a lot of misconceptions and mistakes if we studied our past . I've had poetry published in the North American Review (My "Wile E Coyote" poem was a finalist for the James Hearst Poetry Prize), and "At the Gravesite of Richard M Johnson" won the Award for the best poem submitted to the C.Sandburg College literary magazine the year it was published. I've had 2 poems nominated for "Best of the Net" 2012. I've also won 2 "Edgars," the top award given to poems written in the style of Master's Spoon River Anthology. I've had non fiction published in America's Civil War, and my story "The Slaughter Plant" was nominated for a Pushcart Award when it was published.
